Gifts of Books or Materials

When a donation to the library consists of books or material such material shall be judged by the librarian according to criteria used for selection of materials. Material not meeting such criteria shall be disposed of as per library policy. This policy shall be stated to the donor at the time of acceptance.

Disposal of Materials

When a book or other material has been judged unusable by the librarian in consultation with the professional librarians at the Yellowhead Regional Library such material shall be removed from the collection. All material which is the property of the regional library shall be returned. At the discretion of the librarian, the rest shall be donated to: the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre for patient use, to the Seniors homes and lodges in the community, or shall be offered for sale to the public for a nominal fee or donation. Any material which shall be judged unsuitable for any of the above shall be destroyed.

 Gifts of Money

When a gift of money is made to the library with a specified use requested such request must meet with current Board policy. When a gift of money shall be made to the library with no specific request as to use such money shall be placed in general revenues to be used at the discretion of the Board.
